Payment providers that work with Shopify

I'm looking to set up a shop on Shopify, but I want to make sure I can use my preferred payment provider. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm in the US, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.I'm curious as to what others use for payment processing on Shopify. Perhaps I can get some ideas!
