The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is the nodal agency of the Government of India responsible for promoting industrial and investment activity in the country.
DPIIT is responsible for formulation and implementation of industrial and investment policies with a view to promoting the growth of industry and raising the level of investment in the country. The Department also looks after the administration of the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951 and the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB).
