Swiggy is an Indian online food ordering and delivery company founded in August 2014 by Sriharsha Majety, Nandan Reddy, and Rahul Jaimini. The company is headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka. Swiggy has partnered with more than 50,000 restaurants across 500 cities in India. The company employs more than 10,000 delivery executives. Swiggy was started with an aim to make food ordering and delivery more efficient and hassle-free for customers. The company has raised a total of $1.3 billion in funding so far. In January 2018, Swiggy acquired food delivery startup Scootsy. In May 2018, Swiggy raised $210 million in a Series G funding round led by Naspers with participation from DST Global, Meituan-Dianping, and Tencent. In June 2018, Swiggy acquired Mumbai-based tech startup SuprDaily. In September 2018, Swiggy raised $1 billion in a Series H funding round led by Naspers with participation from Tencent, Meituan-Dianping, and Hillhouse Capital. In December 2018, Swiggy acquired Bengaluru-based tech startup48. In January 2019, Swiggy raised $1 billion in a Series I funding round led by Naspers with participation from Tencent, Hillhouse Capital, and Wellington Management. In February 2019, Swiggy acquired Kolkata-based tech startup TechEagle Innovations. In March 2019, Swiggy acquired Mumbai-based tech startup hyperlocal logistics startup Sendy. In May 2019, Swiggy raised $300 million in a Series J funding round led by Naspers with participation from Tencent, Hillhouse Capital, and Wellington Management. In August 2019, Swiggy acquired Mumbai-based tech startup UrbanPiper.
