How many Gmail accounts can I have with one phone number?

I have a phone number that I use for my business. I use it to register to gmail accounts so I can have different inboxes for different purposes. For example, I have a gmail account for my personal life, one for work, and one for my online business.I recently tried to register a fourth gmail account with this phone number, and I was told that I can't register any more gmail accounts with this phone number. Is this true? Has anyone else experienced this?

If you are trying to register a single phone number to more than 3 Gmail accounts, it is not possible. You can only register a single phone number to 3 Gmail accounts.
