I'm trying to decide which version of the Kindle Paperwhite to buy, and I'm not sure how many there are. Can anyone tell me how many versions there are, and what the differences are between them?
The Kindle Paperwhite has been released in several versions over the years. The most recent version is the 4th generation, which was released in 2018. Prior to that, the 3rd generation was released in 2015, the 2nd generation in 2013, and the 1st generation in 2012.
There are currently three versions of Kindle Paperwhite available.
The 8th Generation Kindle Paperwhite (launched November 2018) features the latest version of the E Ink Carta display and built-in adjustable light. It can store up to 8GB and offers weeks-long battery life.
The 7th Generation Kindle Paperwhite (launched June 2015) also features E Ink Carta but with a non-adjustable light. It can store up to 4GB and offers weeks-long battery life.
The 6th Generation Kindle Paperwhite (launched September 2013) has an earlier version of E Ink Carta with a non-adjustable light. It can store up to 2GB and offers up to 6 weeks of battery life.
