I would say that cutting edge chemistry is definitely exciting, but in a different way than cutting edge technology. With technology, there is always something new and shiny to catch our attention. With chemistry, it's the discoveries that are being made that are fascinating. For example, researchers have recently developed a new way to make carbon nanotubes that could revolutionize the way we create and use electronic devices. Also, scientists are constantly finding new and interesting ways to use chemical reactions to create new materials or to improve existing ones. So while cutting edge chemistry may not be as flashy as cutting edge technology, it is definitely exciting in its own way.
