Onfido is a digital identity verification and background check technology company founded in 2012 by husband-and-wife team Eamon Jubbawy and Husayn Kassai. It is a rapidly growing company, with 500+ employees and a presence in 14 countries.
However, as of April 2020, Onfido has not been classified as a "unicorn" – a start-up that has achieved a valuation of at least $1 billion.
Onfido has achieved considerable success since its creation. It has raised a total of $200M in funding from investors such as Microsoft Ventures, Alibaba and Y Combinator, and was named by CNBC as the most valuable UK start-up in 2018.
Despite this success, Onfido is not yet a unicorn - a status which may come in future years as the company continues its growth trajectory. Thanks to its innovative technology and customer-centric approach to identity verification, Onfido looks well-positioned to reach unicorn status in the coming years.
