Apple is now using LiDAR to help measure objects and distance in the real world. But how accurate is this technology? Can it really be trusted to give accurate measurements?
Apple is very accurate with LiDAR. In fact, they are one of the most accurate LiDAR providers in the business. LiDAR works by sending out a laser pulse and measuring the time it takes for the pulse to bounce back. This information is then used to create a 3D map of the area. Back in 2018, Apple's accuracy was measured at within 4mm. This is amazing considering that the average human is around 2-3 times this size!
Apple's LiDAR sensor is incredibly accurate, with measurements being within a few centimeters of actual objects. This makes it perfect for measuring distance, depth, and width of objects, as well as for mapping out 3D environments.
