Confluent was founded in 2014 by ex-LinkedIn engineers Jay Kreps, Neha Narkhede, and Jun Rao. It was incubated within LinkedIn, and then spins out as an independent company in April, 2015. Confluent was initial FUNDED by Benchmark (investment firm) and Index Ventures (seed-stage venture firm). Later, in December, 2015, it received an additional $24 million in Series B funding, led by Data Collective with participation from existing investors Benchmark and Index Ventures, and new investor Alexander Tamas (CRV).
